Sculptra Aesthetic is a collagen stimulator and, over time, the body breaks down and removes the Sculptra Aesthetic, leaving new collagen in its place.

What’s better than filler? Collagen!

Most people have heard of BOTOX and dermal fillers for getting rid of wrinkles and other signs of aging. However, at Joules Medspa & Laser Center, we are particularly fond of a unique filler called Sculptra Aesthetic.

Sculptra is very different than other fillers like Restylane or Juvéderm products. Like Restylane and JUVÉDERM, Sculptra is an injectable product. However, like other fillers, Sculptra is a collagen stimulator.

The active ingredient, poly-L-lactic acid, helps to stimulate the production of your skin’s own collagen—a fibrous protein in the deep dermis. Collagen is a key component of smooth, healthy-looking skin. Unfortunately, as we age, our collagen production decreases.

We have many 30 somethings coming in for Sculptra because it’s not scary. It doesn’t give you that ‘frozen look’ it restores the collagen that’s been lost for a natural beautiful result.

YOU LOSE ABOUT 1% OF COLLAGEN PER YEAR AFTER THE AGE OF 18.

At around age 30 collagen breaks down and we start to notice the first signs of an aging face.  Collagen acts as a support structure for your skin and when it breaks down, fine lines and wrinkles appear.  Sculptra is a unique facial injectable that provides a whole new way to think about and treat aging.

Sculptra is great for many areas; mostly used for loss of volume, lax skin, temple and cheeks. Many enjoy this on their chest as well. Additionally, contouring has been a big thing this past year. Ie: Defined jawline & a pronounced chin. Sculptra is a great option for both because it’s not just injecting to fill, it’s producing more collagen growth for a natural defined jawline structure, chin and other contouring treatments.

What sets it apart from other wrinkle remedies?
Most dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid and add immediate volume upon injection. The product gradually breaks down over time—typically 6 to 12 months—and the added volume goes away unless you are re-treated. Unlike other fillers, Sculptra works subtly and gradually over time lasting over 2 years. Sculptra’s unique formulation helps to restore the skin’s inner structure and youthful volume, with long-lasting results.

Some patients get the rejuvenating results they want with only one Sculptra treatment, although most skin issues respond best to two to three treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart.

Think of your skin like a balloon.

This loss of volume in the face is similar to a balloon that loses air or volume.  That is, as air or volume is lost, the balloon becomes lax, sags, and wrinkles. Unfortunately, a similar unrelenting process is occurring in our faces as seen here.

Facial volume truly does give support and structure to the skin, thereby keeping the skin firm around the cheeks, eyes, jawline and mouth.

For example, the loss of volume in our temples causes our eyebrows to drop and creates an aged and hollowed appearance to our upper face.

The pictures below are representative of the results achievable with Sculptra.  This gentleman had 4 vials of Sculptra placed in his cheeks and surrounding areas over the course of three treatment sessions.  Notice how he continues to look natural but more youthful. We do require a consult before booking Sculptra. Many need 3-4 vials. While some that are younger can do less, with a chance of more treatments. In our consult, we will evaluate your skin, your needs and let you know what you can expect.
